Description
As a Medical Assistant, Expert you will be responsible for both back office and front office duties including, but not limited to, rooming patients, taking patients’ vital signs, medical charting, and assisting with procedures. Responsibilities: Conducts post‑discharge outreach, schedules follow‑ups, reviews medications, and facilitates referrals. Provides patient education, promotes engagement, self‑management, and health literacy. Performs clinical tasks: vitals, screenings, phlebotomy, EKGs, labs, procedures, injections/vaccines. Ensures infection control, prepares rooms/equipment, manages supplies, and supports patient flow. Handles front office duties: scheduling, insurance verification, chart management, medical records (HIPAA compliant). Supervises staff: assigns tasks, mentors, trains, leads meetings, supports departmental goals. Serves as Epic Care super user; partners with management on process improvement and safety compliance. Adheres to OSHA, CLIA, PA Dept. of Health, and UPMC policies; maintains strict confidentiality High school diploma or equivalent is required. Successful completion of Medical Assistant program or equivalent hospital program, or Successful completion and maintenance of certification examination and 1 year of patient care experience, or Two years of direct patient care experience required. Previous Pediatric or Outpatient experience preferred Successfully complete the UPMC preceptor training and serve as a preceptor and mentor to newly hired team members. Must be responsible and demonstrate proficiency in all practice category specific tasks. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:. In lieu of the MAS, relevant bachelor's degree accepted.
