We’re looking for a compassionate and skilled Medical Assistant who thrives in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment and is excited to support eye care across three locations in Elgin, Lombard, and Chicago. The Medical Assistant supports the ophthalmology team by providing clinical and administrative assistance to ensure efficient patient care and smooth office operations. This position involves preparing patients for exams, performing basic diagnostic tests, assisting with procedures and maintaining accurate medical records. Requirements Responsibilities: Greet and prepare patients for eye exams and procedures. Record patient history, chief complaints, and medication information. Perform preliminary vision screenings and basic diagnostic tests (e.g., visual acuity, tonometry, pupil dilation). Assist ophthalmologist during exams and minor in-office procedures. Clean and prepare instruments, exam rooms, and equipment. Schedule follow-up appointments and coordinate referrals as needed. Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in the EMR system. Educate patients on eye medications, procedures, and post-visit instructions. Manage clinical supplies and ensure rooms are fully stocked. Adhere to all safety, infection control, and HIPAA regulations. Travel between practice to all 3 locations (Elgin, Lombard, and Chicago) is required. Qualifications: Prior ophthalmology or optometry experience highly desirable. Basic understanding of ophthalmic terminology, instruments, and procedures. Strong communication, organizational, and patient service skills. Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required for travel between locations. Education and Certification: High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) a plus.
