The Medical Assistant (MA) plays a vital role in supporting the medical and clinical team in delivering compassionate, trauma-informed care to individuals undergoing treatment for substance use disorders in a residential setting. The MA assists with clinical tasks, monitors patient health, supports medication administration, and ensures a safe and supportive environment for recovery. Requirements Primary Responsibilities: Assist with intake assessments, including vital signs, medical history, and documentation. Support providers during medical evaluations and procedures. Monitor and document patient health status and report changes to clinical staff. Maintain accurate and confidential medical records (EMR). Provide health education and support to residents regarding medication adherence and wellness. Respond to medical emergencies and provide basic first aid as needed. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and other regulatory standards. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to individualized care plans. Maintain inventory of medical supplies and ensure cleanliness of clinical areas. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program. Current MA certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred. CPR/BLS certification required. Minimum 1 year of experience in a behavioral health or addiction treatment setting preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, emotionally dynamic environment. Knowledge of trauma-informed care and harm reduction principles is a plus. Work Environment: Residential treatment facility with 24/7 operations. May require evening, weekend, and holiday shifts. Exposure to individuals in various stages of recovery and withdrawal.
