Description Job Summary: Under the direction of a RN/LPN or practitioner performs basic patient care activities. MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Ø Education – High school diploma or equivalent; plus, specialized, short-term training in basic patient care. Ø Work Experience – clinic setting preferred. Ø Training – Formal nursing assistant and/or medical assistant training required. Ø License/Certification – Certification in Nurse Assisting or Certification in Medical Assisting preferred. ENVIROMENTAL CONDITIONS: Work environment consists of daily patient contact, which may include exposure to blood, or other body fluids. LPN: Job Summary: Provides professional nursing care for clinic/office patient within the scope of regulations outlined in the New Mexico Nurse Practice Act. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: · Obtain and document patient vital signs. · Perform testing such as oximetry, glucometer, urinalysis and other tests when requested per practitioner. · Educate patient as directed. · Perform clerical duties as needed. · Administer medications and/or injections, prescribed procedures with instruction to patient. · Maintain patient care areas. · Monitor pharmacy area. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: · As assigned. KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITIES: · As outlined in the New Mexico Nurse Practice Act. AGE-RELATED COMPETENCIES: Demonstrates the basic knowledge and skills necessary to identify age-specific patient needs appropriate for this position. Responsibilities
The Medical Assistant/LPN will perform basic patient care activities under the direction of an RN/LPN or practitioner, including obtaining and documenting patient vitals and performing basic nursing procedures. They will also maintain cleanliness of the office and examination rooms and assist with clerical duties as needed.
