Learn About a Day in the Life of a Medical Assistant: Responsibilities Performs clinical and administrative duties that assist in the delivery of effective patient care within assigned areas. Greets patients, escorts them to the exam room, and performs vitals and other related MA duties. Demonstrates knowledge of medical practice and patient care as it relates to the clinical setting and medical specialty. Adheres to policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure compliance and patient safety Qualifications Job Requirements: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent One year of recent experience working in a medical facility performing Medical Assistant duties or equivalent, or a recent graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program. Medical Equipment: AED, autoclave, BP cuffs (adult, infant, and pediatric), colposcopy, cryo unit, disposable equipment (gloves, goggles, gowns, etc), EKG machine, glycosometer, nebulizer, nitrogen cylinder, O2 cylinder, pulmonary function machine, pulse oximeter, scale (adult and infant), spirometer, stethoscope, thermometer, wheelchair, and woods lamp. BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care, and if required, maintain training in venipuncture. Preferred Job Requirements: Completion of a medical assistant program from an accredited institution. Registered or nationally certified Medical Assistant.
