JOB SUMMARY

Michigan Primary Care Partners is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our Phone Triage Team. This position is essential in supporting patient care by serving as the first point of contact for patients calling into the office. The triage team assists with answering patient questions, documenting symptoms and concerns, routing calls appropriately, and coordinating with providers and clinical staff to ensure timely and accurate communication. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented Medical Assistant who enjoys patient interaction, problem-solving, and contributing to a smooth workflow across the practice.

Responsibilities
  • Answer incoming patient calls promptly and professionally.
  • Document patient symptoms, concerns, and requests accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Use clinical knowledge to screen and prioritize patient concerns, escalating urgent issues to providers or clinical staff as needed.
  • Schedule appointments and manage patient messages according to established protocols.
  • Collaborate with providers, nurses, and other team members to ensure appropriate follow-up care.
  • Provide general patient education within scope of practice (e.g., office policies, medication refills, preparation for visits).
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect patient confidentiality at all times.
