Overview The Medical Assistant will support smooth operations of the department byperforming administrative and clinical tasks under the supervision of a licensedmedical provider. The incumbent will assist with examination and treatment ofpatients as directed by the provider; assist staff with scheduling, test results, andother administrative tasks; and will assist with maintaining medical supply stock,entering patient data, and facilitating safe transitions of care Responsibilities 1. Prepare and assist in the examination and treatment procedures of pediatricand adult patients as directed by healthcare providers.2. Enter pertinent patient data into the electronic medical record (EMR) asrequested by the provider.3. Assist staff with scheduling appointments, requesting medical information, testresults, photocopying, filing, and other tasks as assigned.4. Track high-risk referrals and lab tests. Facilitate safe transitions of care.5. Assist clinicians in pending orders for labs, durable medical equipment andfacilitating medication refill requests.6. Assisting with obtaining prior authorization for the Spina Bifida and relatedmedical program services as needed.7. Assist in the maintenance and inventory of medical supplies. Restock andprepare exam rooms for the next day according to par levels. Notify staffmember responsible for ordering supplies when appropriate.8. Work within scope to answer phones; screens calls; EMR messages; and act as aliaison between patients, families, and healthcare providers to ensuresuccessful, timely, and compassionate communication.9. Review clinic schedules for accuracy and openings. Assist in filling appointmentslots when needed.10. Assist providers with dictations to ensure compliance with billing andregulatory requirements.11. Function effectively as a collaborative team member with demonstratedcommitment to group goals and teamwork. Qualifications Must possess and maintain Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) within 6 months ofhire date. EDUCATION:• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent required.• Associates degree or higher preferred.EXPERIENCE:Previous experience in a medical and/or rehabilitation setting is highly desirable. Minimum pay range USD $17.85/Hr. Maximum pay range USD $28.94/Hr.
