Description We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Medical Assistant to join our team. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to assist our licensed medical providers in diagnosing, monitoring, and treating various medical conditions. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well under deadlines. Position Schedule This is a part-time position, two days per week, with rotating days each week based on clinic needs. Patient Intake & Preparation Greet patients and verify identification and appointment details. Collect patient demographics, medical history, and medication lists. Obtain vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, height, weight, BMI, and vision screening as required). Explain exam procedures and address patient questions. Ensure informed consent and HIPAA compliance throughout all encounters. Clinical Support Assist providers with disability and occupational fitness examinations. Perform point-of-care testing (e.g., urinalysis, breath alcohol, hearing, vision, EKG, spirometry) as trained and/or certified. Maintain exam rooms, ensuring they are stocked, sanitized, and compliant with OSHA and infection control standards. Assist with specimen collection, labeling, and proper chain-of-custody documentation when required. Documentation & Compliance Accurately enter patient information and clinical data into the electronic medical record (EMR) system. Ensure all documentation meets federal, state, and contracting agency requirements. Support completion of medical forms and required reports for disability determinations and occupational fitness evaluations. Follow strict chain-of-custody protocols for drug and alcohol testing. Administrative & Operational Duties Assist schedulers with confirming and updating patient appointments. Answer phones and respond to patient and staff inquiries professionally. Maintain medical supplies, inventory, and order replacements as needed. Support clinic flow to ensure exams are completed in a timely manner. Quality & Safety Adhere to confidentiality, HIPAA, and security protocols. Follow infection control, safety, and occupational health procedures. Report any patient safety concerns, equipment malfunctions, or unusual findings promptly. Requirements Qualifications & Skills: High school diploma or equivalent required; Medical Assistant diploma or certification preferred. (LPN/LVN, Paramedic, Military Corpsman or Medic with equivalent training and experience may be considered) Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification preferred. Prior experience in occupational health, disability exams, or clinical medical assisting is strongly preferred. Proficiency with EMR systems and Microsoft Office Suite preferred. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, and move between exam rooms for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs (supplies/equipment).
