Description As a Medical Assistant at Phoenix Heart, you will be an integral part of our high-performing cardiology team. In this critical support role, you will help deliver top-tier care to our patients by providing clinical and administrative assistance that ensures efficient, compassionate, and seamless healthcare delivery. Duties and Responsibilities · Assisting cardiologist and nurse practitioners in clinical procedures and examinations · Recording patient medical histories, vital signs, and other relevant information accurately · Maintaining and updating electronic health records (HER) with accuracy and confidentiality · Visually screening patients for urgent needs; calling emergency services when necessary · Ensuring a clean and organized patient care environment · Assisting with medical equipment maintenance and sterilization · Assisting with incoming/outgoing calls and messages; documenting calls and actions taken · Participating in the monitoring of patients with chronic disease and extended care benefits including verification of eligibility and status of service · Participating as a member of the interdisciplinary team · Assisting co-workers, to include, but not limited to floating to other locations · Demonstrating a high level of professionalism, empathy, and patient-centered care Requirements Qualifications · 2+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant, preferably in cardiology · Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program · Able to perform complex medical assistant tasks including test/treatments within the clinical scope · BLS certified, or able to attain certification within 30 days of employment · Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to interact effectively and work efficiently with people at all levels in the organization · Excellent verbal & written communication skills · Strong organizational and multitasking abilities · Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPPA regulations · High level of proficiency with PC based software programs Education · High school diploma or equivalent · National Medical Assistant Certification Physical Requirements · Frequent standing, sitting, bending, or crouching · Manual dexterity and repetitive hand/wrist movements. · Communication with patients, vendors, and staff. · Move, position, and transport of patients in excess of 90 lbs. · Move, position, and transport department materials in excess of 20 lbs. · Ability to distinguish color, near and far acuity, depth perception and peripheral field of vision · Operate office productive machinery such as an EKG system, computer, and printer · Frequent use of gloves and/or Personal Protective Equipment. Working Conditions · Normal office environment · Extremes of hot and cold temperatures · Hazardous materials · Exposure to Blood borne Pathogens · Exposure to infectious airborne particles · Risk of needle stick · Occasional overtime may be required
