Description
Houston Anesthesiology Associates is looking for a Medical Assistant to join their team!   SUMMARY: The Medical Assistant is responsible for supporting a positive patient experience by performing administrative and select clinical duties under the direction of a physician or nurse manager. This role also assists providers by accurately documenting patient encounters through medical scribing.   ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Provides excellent customer service by professionally greeting and engaging patients and visitors while maintaining a respectful, inclusive, and patient-centered environment. • Promotes efficient clinic operations by completing tasks thoroughly while maintaining high standards of quality, patient flow, and provider satisfaction • Escorts patients to exam rooms and perform intake procedures, including verifying patient identity, confirming reason for visit and date of injury, measuring and recording vital signs and documenting all information accurately in the patient chart • Educates patients on medications and treatment plans as directed by the physician or physician assistant • Maintains accurate and complete patient records by ensuring all reports, labs, and documentation are available prior to appointments and verifying required documents, including referral forms, imaging reports, completed checklists, and Letters of Protection (if applicable) • Assists with medical documentation by completing operative notes and ensures accuracy of scribe entries • Maintains exam rooms by ensuring cleanliness and adequate stocking of medical supplies • Manages communications by responding to emails, phone calls, and inquiries promptly, sending faxes and emails as needed, taking and relaying messages accurately, and communicating effectively with patients, providers, and pharmacies • Documents and communicates updates regarding patient status and treatment plans • Supports team operations by using downtime productively, assisting team members as needed, and maintaining awareness of team workload • Ensures compliance with privacy standards, maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies • Follows all workplace safety guidelines, reporting hazards and incidents promptly • Travels to other facilities as required • Perform other related tasks as needed   KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Medical Assistant Premier Medical Resources reserves the rights to change or modify the employee job description whether orally or in writing, at any time during the employment relationship. Employee must comply with all applicable Premier Medical Resources policies and procedures. • Ability to distinguish colors accurately (required for interpreting certain diagnostic results) • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures, including file management and office systems • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills • Ability to adapt and remain flexible in a fast-paced environment • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a professional demeanor • Excellent customer service and phone etiquette • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and electronic medical records (e.g., eClinicalWorks) • Demonstrates initiative and a willingness to learn new skills • Ability to quickly learn and apply new processes and systems   EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • High School diploma or GED • Two (2) years of experience in a medical office setting • Valid Texas Driver’s License
