SimpliCare is a new medical office located in Mississauga, Ontario. We are committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered care in a friendly and professional environment. We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Medical Assistant will support physicians and other healthcare professionals with clinical and administrative tasks to ensure efficient patient flow and exceptional care. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of medical office procedures in Ontario.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Medical Office Assistant (MOA) diploma or equivalent certification from a recognized institution
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a clinical or medical office setting (preferred)
  • Knowledge of Ontario’s healthcare system and OHIP billing procedures
  • Proficient with EMR systems; experience with JANE and/or OSCAR is an asset
  • CPR and First Aid certification (current)
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to patient confidentiality

EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience in a hospital or clinical setting is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with medical terminology is essential for effective communication within the team
  • Proven skills in patient care, demonstrating empathy and professionalism in all interactions
  • Experience with medication administration protocols to ensure patient safety

Responsibilities

CLINICAL DUTIES:

  • Prepare examination rooms and assist during patient examinations and procedures
  • Take and record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, etc.)
  • Collect specimens for lab testing and perform basic lab procedures
  • Administer medications and injections as directed by the physician
  • Ensure proper sterilization and maintenance of medical instruments and equipment
  • Update patient medical records accurately in EMR systems (e.g. JANE, OSCAR)

ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES:

  • Greet and check in patients; verify and update patient information
  • Schedule appointments and manage calendars for healthcare providers
  • Answer phones, respond to inquiries, and relay messages promptly
  • Process billing, OHIP claims, and insurance paperwork
  • Maintain inventory and order medical and office supplies as needed
  • Assist with referrals and follow-ups

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures
  • Prepare patients for their appointments by taking vital signs and medical histories
  • Administer medications as directed by physicians, ensuring proper dosage and documentation
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations
  • Schedule appointments and manage patient flow in the office
  • Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care
  • Perform routine laboratory tests and assist with other clinical tasks as needed
