Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. This position requires a combination of administrative and clinical duties, making it a vital role in our organization. Essential Functions and Competencies: Clinical Duties: Recording patient medical history and personal information. Measuring vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature. Perform procedures under the supervision of physician or other health practitioners within the scope of practice. Assisting healthcare providers during examinations. Explaining treatment procedures to patients. Administering medications or injections as directed by the physician. Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens. Performing basic laboratory tests. Communication and Patient Education: Answering phone calls and providing information to patients. Communicating with patients and their families to ensure understanding of medical instructions. Providing patient education on medications, diet, and lifestyle changes. Offering emotional support to patients. Compliance and Recordkeeping: Ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and policies. Maintaining confidentiality of patient information. In-depth knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations. Keeping up-to-date with any changes or updates to HIPAA requirements. Updating and organizing medical records. Technology Skills: Using electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical software for documentation. Operating medical equipment as needed. Team Collaboration: Collaborating with other healthcare professionals for patient care. Participating in staff meetings and training sessions. Valuing the contributions of others in a team. Working collaboratively towards common goals. Adaptability and Multitasking: Handling a variety of tasks efficiently and adapting to changing priorities. Managing time effectively to balance clinical and administrative responsibilities. Professionalism: Demonstrating professionalism in interactions with patients, colleagues, and other staff members. Requirements Required Education and Experience High school graduate or equivalent BLS Certification Preferred Education and Experience Certified Medical Assistant license, Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) license, or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license preferred. Injection certification preferred. Previous experience in the medical field.
