We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and passionate medical assistant to join our well-established medical clinic in the heart of downtown Mississauga.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Healthcare field and medical specialty.
  • Medical terminology.
  • Grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Knowledge of working in an EMR environment.

SKILLS:

  • Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette.
  • Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow.
  • The ability to perform phlebotomy and administer injections.
  • Oscar EMR is an asset.

EDUCATION:

  • Medical background (nurse/doctor).
  • Medical assistant certification (an asset).
  • EMR training.

Responsibilities
  • Working closely with multiple board-certified physicians.
  • Perform nursing procedures under the supervision of a physician.
  • Assist physicians in exam rooms.
  • Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, and temperature, and document all information in the patient’s E-Chart.
  • Administer allergy shots, vitamin B12 injections, and other vaccinations that patients won’t have to wait for a family physician to do.
  • Prepare an E-Chart for the physician before the patient is seen.
  • Update the physician before he/she sees the patient.
  • Perform certain procedures, such as blood draws, and wart removal.
  • Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls.
  • Be able to direct patients who need urgent attention.
  • Call patients with abnormal labs and determine a return-to-office plan for those who need urgent attention and those who can wait to be seen and those who can get treatment over the phone.
