POSITION SUMMARY:

The Medical Assistant Team Lead performs administrative and clinical duties assigned to all patients. As a member of a care team, support goal achievement, organizational quality, and patient-centered care. Incorporate core organizational values of quality, respect, integrity, partnership, and compassion in all activities and decisions. Comply with organizational policies, procedures, standards of care, and related laws and regulations, including HIPAA, HRSA, OSHA, and all accreditation agency regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or a general education degree (GED).
  • Must be able to read, write, and comprehend verbal and written instructions, file alphabetically, and use office machines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with, provide information to, and respond to questions from employees, patients, visitors, and all outside providers.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in an MA role.
  • Ability to navigate and enter data into an electronic health record.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
  • Minimum (6) months of supervisory experience.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for knowing and following all clinical policies and procedures and accreditation requirements, including documentation of all patient information accurately and timely manner into EHR.
  • Complete intake interviews for new and returning patients.
  • Participates in daily huddles; works with the care team to ensure pre-visit preparation, including culturally and linguistically appropriate services.
  • Prepare patients for medical exams consistent with the reason for visit; assist provider with exams, as requested.
  • Perform related duties necessary to ensure quality patient care as requested by the supervisor, including addressing barriers to care when the patient has not met treatment goals.
  • Process all tasks and route tasks appropriately on time.
  • Administer adult vaccines at the direction of a provider.
  • Perform screening tests; safely and accurately draw blood; complete standing orders.
  • Schedule patients for follow-up appointments based on established protocol, identified need, and availability of appointments; follow up with patients who must keep important appointments.
  • Clean and stock exam rooms, disinfect exam room tables, treatment, and lab surfaces daily; empty, bag, and remove all biohazard waste from the clinical area

  • Monitor the schedule of all MAs and report call-ins and/or other concerns to the Manager in a timely manner.
  • Schedule and monitor all health center daily/weekly work assignments.
  • Assist the Supervisor with hiring protocols.
  • Train all new MAs and provide written input to the manager related to the 90-day evaluation.
  • Train all existing MAs on new/revised processes and follow up to ensure processes are sustained.
