Job Title: Medical Assistant Department: Virtual Health Location: Trinity Towers and Dallas ISD School Campus Shift: Monday - Friday 8:00 am-5:00 pm (Hours may vary by school and follow the school-year calendar) Job Type: On-Site Why Children’s Health? Summary: The purpose of this position is to perform various outpatient care duties and prepare patients for examinations/procedures, including preparing patients for clinic visits by completing intake documentation, vital signs, height/weights and rooming; preparing and assisting in examinations/procedures; collecting lab samples and performing point of care testing. Pursuant to Physician delegation, this position may collect give identified injections and medications. Additionally, this position may perform front and back office duties, such as registration, scheduling and financial processes in various outpatient clinics, managing the insurance authorization and referral process for a specified clinic, and collect funds. This position may also conduct screening of patient insurance to determine if financial counseling is necessary. Responsibilities: Escorts or transports patient to exam rooms, treatment rooms or other areas as directed. Prepare patient for examination and treatment by Physician or other Provider; gather patient data regarding condition; take vital signs, height and weight and document this information in the medical record. Obtain past medical history and history of current illness/condition. Perform point of care testing as required for their position. Obtain specimens from patients through venipuncture and capillary collection (blood), nasal, throat, skin and cheek swabs, and urine specimens from patients in accordance with Physician or other Provider order or written protocol; receive and labels specimens from patients and verify patient's information and transfer that information to specimen container. Facilitate transport of specimens. Prepare clinic area by stocking rooms with appropriate medical supplies; dispose of medical waste and clean and maintain laboratory and examination room equipment. Prepares examination rooms by arranging sterile instruments on tray and stocks rooms with appropriate medical supplies. Disposes of medical waste. Cleans and maintains examination room equipment. Cleans and maintains examination rooms between patients. Perform EKG's as required for their Department, in accordance with Physician or other Provider order or written protocol. Provide patients and families pre-printed instructions and educational material, as directed by Physician or other Provider. How You’ll Be Successful: WORK EXPERIENCE Minimum 6 months experience in a patient care setting or completion of MA program (Required) EDUCATION High school diploma or equivalent (Required) LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS MA certification acquired through an accredited program (Required) Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements 60 Days, (Required) A Place Where You Belong We put our people first.
