Description Job title Medical Billing/AR Specialist Reports to Billing Manager Summary of Responsibilities Busy ophthalmology clinic seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable (AR) Specialist to manage insurance follow-up, denials, and outstanding claims. The ideal candidate has strong medical billing experience and understands ophthalmology procedures, modifiers, and insurance reimbursement processes. Essential Functions: Work AR aging reports and follow up on unpaid claims Contact commercial insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, and vision plans for claim resolution Review EOBs and address denials, rejections, and underpayments Submit corrected claims and appeals Post payments and reconcile accounts Resolve coding and modifier-related issues Maintain detailed documentation of account activity Assist with month-end AR reporting Requirements Minimum Education Requirements High school diploma or GED. Good verbal communication skills. Minimum Background Requirements 2+ years of medical billing and AR experience required Ophthalmology billing experience strongly preferred Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, and modifier usage Experience with surgical billing and global periods preferred Strong understanding of Medicare and commercial insurance guidelines Detail-oriented with excellent follow-up skills Preferred Education and Experience Certified Biller/Coder Affirmative Action/EEO statement Louisiana Eye and Laser’s practice is to comply with all federal, state and local employment law, and it is committed to equal opportunity in employment.
