Medical Billing / RCM Denials Specialist (Part-Time / Contract / Freelance)
Company: Bah MedLegal Consulting (Startup – Denials Management & Appeals)
Location: Remote (DMV preferred)
Type: Part-Time / Contract (10–15 hrs per week to start)

ABOUT US

We are a startup medical-legal consulting firm launching in the DMV area, specializing in denials management, appeals, and medical record review. We are building a roster of experienced medical billing/RCM specialists for contract work (remote, flexible hours). This role will begin on a part-time, project basis as client cases come in, with potential for steady ongoing work.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years of experience in medical billing/RCM, with strong denials management knowledge.
  • Familiarity with CMS, commercial payer rules, and standard denial codes.
  • Experience with RCM software (Kareo, AdvancedMD, eClinicalWorks, or similar).
  • Strong attention to detail and deadline management.
  • Ability to work independently in a startup/consulting environment.
  • Bonus: Experience supporting law firms, disability claims, or medical-legal cases.

Responsibilities
  • Log and track claim denials in Kareo (or similar RCM system).
  • Review EOBs, categorize denial reasons, and flag urgent cases.
  • Prepare appeal support packets (collect denial letters, payer policies, medical records).
  • Resubmit corrected claims and manage appeal submission.
  • Conduct follow-up calls with payers regarding status updates.
  • Generate weekly/monthly reports on denial trends and appeal outcomes.
  • Maintain organized records for law firm and provider clients.
