JOB SUMMARY:

OrthoLA is seeking an experienced orthopedic Medical Coder to join our growing team! The Medical Coder is responsible for reviewing clinical documentation and assigning appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes for orthopedic services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in orthopedic coding, with spine coding experience. This role requires close collaboration with physicians, billing staff, and administrative personnel to support timely and accurate billing and reimbursement.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of musculoskeletal anatomy and terminology

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Certification as CPC, CCS, or equivalent (AAPC or AHIMA) preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of medical coding experience in an orthopedic setting required
  • Experience with spine procedures and surgeries highly preferred
  • Proficiency with EHR and coding software; experience with ModMed or similar systems a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
