SUMMARY

We are seeking a Medical Device Reprocessing Technician to join our team at the Canadian National Institute of Health. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting our educational initiatives by applying your expertise in medical terminology and assisting in various healthcare training programs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certification in Medical Device Reprocessing Technician from a recognized Canadian Institution
  • Minimum 5 years of hand-on experience in health care or dental setting
  • Strong knowledge in a dental facility setting
  • Skilled in troubleshooting and repairing common operational problems in dental chairs
  • CPR Level C and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Proven ability to mentor and train others in a clinical or educational environment
  • Standard First Aid certification
  • WHMIS certification
  • Occupational Health and Safety Awareness (OHSA – Worker Health and Safety Awareness Certificate)

SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

  • Ability to work independently while following established procedures
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and infection control (IPAC protocols and the Medical Device Reprocessing Association of Ontario (MDR AO) standards)
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and respectfully as part of a team
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills for working with students, instructors, coordinators, and administrators
  • Professionalism and reliability in upholding college policies and protocols
  • Experience working in an educational environment or supporting student learning through teaching, mentoring, or clinical supervision is considered a strong asset

Responsibilities
  • Clean, disinfect, and sterilize instruments and equipment according to standardized protocols and manufacturer guidelines
  • Maintain and monitor sterilization logs, chemical indicators, and equipment performance tests
  • Ensure appropriate storage and handling of sterile supplies
  • Manage inventory levels of sterilization supplies and submit reordering requests as needed
  • Adhere strictly to infection prevention and control procedures and safety regulations
  • Collaborate with faculty and clinical instructors to coordinate instrument preparation and timely distribution
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and organized sterilization and clinical environment
  • Report equipment malfunctions or safety hazards promptly to supervisors
  • Support general clinical preparation and cleanup as required
