Our Mission: TheMednet is a physician-only question and answer platform that connects the world’s top academic physicians with the most innovative technology to share knowledge that improves care for patients across the country. TheMednet was started in 2014 and includes over 37,000 physicians in oncology, hematology, rheumatology, neurology, dermatology, pulmonology, endocrinology, cardiology, nephrology, infectious diseases, and more coming soon. Our Founders: We are a physician and engineer from Yale and MIT, respectively. We founded theMednet after our father, also a physician, was diagnosed with cancer and we realized how difficult it was to know what to do when the answers are not found in textbooks, guidelines, or UpToDate, but rather trapped in the heads of experts. We created theMednet to document expert knowledge and give physicians everywhere access to that knowledge.
Our Team: Our team includes 6 full time physicians who are former Residency and Fellowship Program Directors working alongside engineers from Google, Spotify, and Microsoft. We are all innovative, optimistic, and mission-driven.

JOB DESCRIPTION

theMednet is looking for an academic oncologist to join our team of engineers and physicians. You would be working with friendly, like-minded peers who are passionate about improving cancer care. We are an ego-free environment and are laser focused on our mission of helping oncologists deliver the best care to their patients. theMednet office is located in New York City, but this role can be filled remotely. One day out of the week may be used for direct patient care. The physicians at theMednet maintain their faculty appointments and clinical practices 1 day/week.
The Oncology Director will head content, engagement, and expansion of our oncology sections and oversee our multidisciplinary virtual tumor board program and ASCO & ASTRO Journal Club programs. He or she will establish relationships with oncologists all over the country, establish new educational initiatives, provide editorial oversight, and oversee expansion into further oncology related subspecialties.

REQUIREMENTS

• Candidates must possess an MD or DO degree and be based in the United States
• Passion for improving the quality of cancer care on a large scale
• Excellent writing and communication
• Possess exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to think critically and creatively to develop and optimize efficient workflows
• Board certified or board eligible in medical oncology and hematology
• Broad knowledge base of solid and hematologic malignancies and hematology
• Outgoing, friendly, and creative personality.
• Maintain part time clinical practice (1 day/week)

• Manage a team of physician editors in Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Hematology, Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, and Gynecologic Oncology, under the guidance of the Senior Medical Director of Oncology
• Launch and manage Palliative Medicine specialty
• Oversee content, engagement, and growth in oncology specialties
• Work with product team to give input on new products and improving products offered to physicians on theMednet
• Grow relationships with oncology professional societies and academic programs
