Description Schedule Part-Time or Contract: 2-8 hours per week, flexible hours SUMMARY This position serves as the medical oversight lead for a substance use disorder treatment program. The role ensures that all medical services are delivered safely, ethically, and in compliance with regulatory standards, while collaborating closely with program leadership. It provides both clinical oversight of medical staff and strategic guidance on policies, procedures, public health practices, and integration of medical care within the overall treatment program. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee all medical services provided by the program. Develop, review, and revise medical policies and procedures. Provide ongoing training related to medical care, specialized services, medications, and medical/psychiatric emergencies. Collaborate with the Program Director in supervising non-medical staff delivering substance use disorder services. Review, approve, sign, and date all client Treatment Plans, Treatment Plan Reviews, and Discharges. Meet monthly with the Program Director and/or Clinical Director to review complex cases and determine appropriate interventions. Provide training and guidance to residential staff as needed. Supervise medical staff and meet monthly with the RN to review labs, testing, and medical services. Ensure policies support routine medical surveillance, prompt identification and referral of health concerns, implementation of medical orders, and reporting of communicable diseases. Oversee public health education and screening protocols, including tuberculosis, STDs, hepatitis, HIV/AIDS prevention, and harm reduction practices. Assist in developing and maintaining referral relationships with hospitals, specialty providers, laboratories, nursing homes, and other healthcare resources. Ensure program compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Required: Licensed Physician in New York State, have or willing to obtain MAT certification, be or be willing to be a Medicaid provider. Preferred: Experience with adolescents diagnosed with substance use disorders.
