Medical Education Programs Administrators (MEPAs) oversee all aspects of a large education program or multiple programs, and as a result, they operate with additional authority, independence, or level of complexity. MEPAs serve as liaisons among trainees, the administration, and program directors. MEPAs are responsible for recruitment, record maintenance, communications, adherence to accreditation requirements, and curriculum support. They have advanced decision-making authority and operate under limited supervision. Duties can include: Assume responsibility for the daily administrative operations and coordination of the DOM’s residency/fellowship programs. Respond to requests for assistance and information from program directors, residents and fellows, administration, Graduate Medical Education Office, or outside agencies. Ensure that all annual goals and objectives are tracked and achieved, including meeting scheduling deadlines, monitoring and logging duty hours, coordinating curriculum review, with development of and assigning schedules, rotations, and evaluations in New Innovations. Develop and facilitate orientation, workshops, and graduate medical education activities. Schedule space and organize necessary materials for these events and resources. Help promote events. Assist in the pre-screening, interviewing, ranking, and selection of program trainees. Mentor program trainees, tracking, and communicating progress. Prepare and distribute instructional materials and course information. Ensure the operations of the medical education programs comply with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), policies and procedures as outlined by UVA Health System’s Graduate Medical Education Office and Continuing Medical Education (CME). Submit updates to professional organization databases. Create and reconcile program budgets, prioritizing activities and expenditures based on statistical analysis. Function as an integral player on the Department of Medicine education team, to include providing cross-coverage and mentoring as needed. Participate in and contribute to residency and fellowship special projects and events, such as: recruitment and orientation, year-end graduation receptions and dinners, Grand Rounds, retreats, Scholars/Research Day, Department committees/task forces, and in-service training exams as needed to represent the needs and perspective of the Residency and Fellowship programs. Establish and maintain relationships with the residency and fellowship coordinator counterparts in other UVA departments and those from other institutions. Represent the Department at regional, state, and national meetings. Minimum Requirements Education: High school diploma/GED Experience: 3+ years of relevant professional experience required. Preferred Qualifications Education: Bachelors Degree Experience: Previous experience with graduate medical education Physical Demands: This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs. Salary Range: Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
