Description:

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic doctor at FY3 level to take on the role of a full-time Medical Education Fellow, working across Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust and the Kent & Medway Medical School (KMMS).
The post offers a unique chance to gain invaluable experience in Medical Education within a large NHS Trust and a thriving Medical School. You will collaborate with dynamic teams to design, implement, and deliver innovative, integrated training programmes for NHS Medical Trainees and Undergraduate students.
The Trust supports 483 trainees across Foundation, Core, GPST, and Higher Specialty levels. Training programmes are meticulously monitored through Local Faculty Groups, the Local Academic Board (with significant input from Trainee Representatives), and the quality assurance processes of the Kent, Surrey, and Sussex Deanery. Additionally, the programmes undergo rigorous oversight by the General Medical Council (GMC) through the National Trainee Survey (NTS), ensuring a high standard of education and development.
The post holder will contribute to both Postgraduate and Undergraduate Education within the Trust, undertaking a variety of responsibilities as outlined in the job description.
Additionally, they will dedicate one day per week to working with the KMMS Faculty to support the implementation and development of the clinical and professional skills curriculum for Year 1 and 2 medical students.
Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust ranks among the top 10 NHS Trusts nationwide and was named the second-best Trust to work for in the South East in the 2023 NHS Staff Survey.
We are a large acute hospital trust in south-east England, providing general hospital services and specialist care to around 600,000 residents in West Kent and East Sussex. With a dedicated and diverse team of over 8,000 staff we are proud to offer specialised cancer services to over two million people through the Kent Oncology Centre.
Fordcombe Hospital, near Tunbridge Wells, became part of the Trust in October 2024. Specialising in planned care, it offers two operating theatres, 28 inpatient and day-care beds, diagnostic services (X-ray, MRI, CT, and endoscopy), and consultation/treatment rooms.
