Description

The mission of the Office of Student Learning and Educational Resources (OSLER) is to provide high quality academic support for students in the School of Medicine. The Medical Education Learning Specialist is a key member of the academic support team within OSLER and is responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous evaluation of academic support services for medical students. This position focuses on enhancing student learning and performance through group and individual support in the areas of active learning, remediation, knowledge organization, test taking skills and time management with particular focus on preparation for high-stakes examinations such as the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 1 and Step 2. The Learning Specialist collaborates with faculty, staff, and students to foster academic success and improve educational outcomes through the delivery of instructional resources, targeted support programs, workshops and individualized academic coaching on educational strategies, learning approaches and cognitive skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - FOR FULL CONSIDERATION, APPLICANTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO UPLOAD LICENSE AND/OR CERTIFICATION IF REQUIRED OF THE POSITION

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in teaching, academic support, learning strategy development, or student services in a higher education or health professions setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student populations and address a range of learning needs.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and data analysis skills.
  • Familiarity with educational technologies and learning management systems.
  • Knowledge of academic support and learning strategy development

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in related area preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical education and/or health professions education and experience supporting USMLE preparation strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with students in medical, health professions or other higher education setting
