Lewisham Healthcare NHS Trust, Clinical Engineering Department require a Medical Equipment Librarian to help provide an efficient Medical Equipment Library service by ensuring that clean functional medical equipment is always available by the clinical directorates.
This involves the collection of medical equipment from the clinical areas within the Hospital, cleaning and checking the equipment and reporting any defective equipment to the Clinical Engineering Technicians, and to constantly update the database used within the equipment Library.
Main site of work is at University Hospital Lewisham, but the post holder may also be required to start work on any site used by the Trust. Travel between sites may be required within a working day, for example to travel between University Hospital Lewisham and Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Ensure all equipment taken out of or returning to the library is correctly recorded on the department’s computerised recording system for the effective tracking of library devices.
Use the MEMS to monitor the Planned Maintenance schedules for Library equipment, and any out of their service date to be entered onto ‘In Rack’.
Work with ward managers to obtain signatures on department paperwork including ‘New equipment acceptance forms’ and ‘Condemnation forms’ updating MEMS and filing paperwork as required.
Faulty equipment being returned to the Clinical Engineering workshop is to be thoroughly cleaned and then entered as ‘In Rack’ on the Medical Equipment Management System – MEMS
To check medical devices such as Syringe pumps, Cardiac monitors etc. that are use within the Equipment Library, to ensure that the equipment is working correctly prior to reissue.

To provide an efficient Medical Equipment Library service in supplying clean medical equipment to clinical areas as required. On collection, the equipment to be visually inspected externally cleaned and the database updated.
To contribute to the successful operation of the Medical devices Library
