As Medical HealthCare Partner Oncology – GastroIntestinal Cancer, the focus is on turning deep clinical insight into practical change across the healthcare system. This role combines scientific expertise, field engagement and system-level thinking to uncover unmet needs, co-create innovative solutions with stakeholders and help transform care for patients living with GI cancers. Accountabilities Develop a comprehensive understanding of the healthcare system pathways in the GastroIntestinal cancer setting, including referral flows, diagnostic routes and treatment access. Continuously map initiatives, projects and insights from the healthcare system that can contribute to improving the patient pathway in GI cancer. Proactively drive and/or support sustainable system transformation initiatives that enhance patient management and outcomes. Work within a cross-functional team as the medical-scientific expert in the GastroIntestinal cancer therapeutic area, contributing to aligned strategic and operational plans. Contribute to the development of the medical strategy and its implementation within the integrated plan, grounded in robust understanding of the external medical environment and emerging insights. Prepare, manage, execute and follow up a tailored field medical and communication plan aligned with the GastroIntestinal cancer therapeutic area objectives. Build and maintain peer-level relationships with key external experts to deepen understanding of the Portuguese healthcare ecosystem and clinical dynamics, engaging with the medical and scientific community in a credible, balanced and objective way. Support local, regional and global clinical research programs and externally sponsored research projects, helping to accelerate evidence generation in GI oncology. Identify and foster opportunities for real-world evidence data generation projects in collaboration with medical colleagues and cross-functional partners. Partner with internal stakeholders to provide medical-scientific input into account planning and execution, ensuring alignment with patient and system needs. Help design, set up and deliver medical-scientific training and further education in GI oncology for the sales force and other AstraZeneca personnel. Organise and execute the field medical and communication plan, tracking progress and impact. Support the Medical Governance Team (Medical Information / Patient Safety) in handling external medical and scientific requests, ensuring high-quality, timely responses. Essential Skills/Experience University degree in a health-related scientific field. Good understanding of oncology Professional experience of working in the pharmaceutical industry, Gastrointestinal cancer therapeutic area experience within clinical research will also be considered. High-level of scientific knowledge and ability to analyze and process clinical and scientific data. Experience in liaising with healthcare professionals. Project management skills (preferably) Knowledge of the legal and ethical framework and the procedural guidelines that apply to the promotion and approval of medicinal products in Portugal. (preferably) Quick self-learner, ability and willingness to work in a team and independently. Communicative competence and presentation skills. Written and verbal communication skills, including communicating complex technical, scientific, or medical information to broad audience types Very good knowledge of spoken and written Portuguese. Very good command of written and spoken English. Desirable Skills/Experience Professional experience of working in the pharmaceutical industry, preferentially in a field medical role or within Medical Affairs.
