Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers has beautiful state-of-the-art integrated Cancer and Breast Centers, with locations strategically located throughout the Valley. Each one provides a superior cancer care environment with a full spectrum of cancer related services for patients. Our multi-disciplinary team approach includes surgical oncology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, diagnostic imaging services, social service support, nutritionist, integrative services, and genetic counseling.   Mission Statement: To serve the community by providing quality, comprehensive cancer care which respects the values and needs of each individual.   Overview: We are currently looking for a qualified and experienced Insurance Verification Specialists to work at our Central Business Office in the East Valley. Verifies patient’s insurance coverage for any patient on the schedule needed for office visits and/or treatments.   Schedule: This is a full-time, day-shift position working a Monday - Friday schedule.   Essential Duties and Responsibilities:    * Verify eligibility and benefits plus load insurance if needed for new patients, patients with a change of insurance, and re-verify eligibility and benefits on existing patients prior to first visit of a new year. * Review demographics for accuracy including patient name, address, DOB and any other pertinent information.  * Review schedules and add-ons to identify patients that need re-verifications. * Re-check eligibility monthly on patients whose insurance can’t be run through Athens electronic eligibility system. * Must verify insurance for a minimum of 70 patients daily. * Work tasks by creation date; STAT tasks are to be worked immediately for same day/next day. * Respond to and work emails within 24 hours; STAT/urgent emails are to be worked immediately. * Work all responses with errors immediately; check all Medicare to see if patient is on a Medicare replacement; check all AHCCCS to verify plan hasn’t changed, confirm COB on all patients.  * Call on claims that process differently from the benefits obtained. Re-verify benefits and send claim for reprocessing if needed.  * Must be able to type and work on a computer. * Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. * Performs other duties as requested by supervisor, administrator, or physicians. Knowledge and Skills:    * Knowledge of Medical Office operations.  Knowledge of medical terminology. * Knowledge of Skilled Nursing Facility, LTC and Hospice in relation to insurance benefits. * Proficiency in basic mathematics, Microsoft Office, Word, Outlook, and Internet.   * Ability to use office equipment, computer. * Able to be in a seated position, talk on the phone, repetitive keyboard usage and clarity of vision at 20 inches or less.   Education and Qualifications:    * Minimum of 3 years in the healthcare reimbursement field.   * Medical and Radiation Oncology experience preferred.   * High school diploma or equivalent required.
