Employment Status: Full time Shift: Day/Evening (United States of America) Facility: 1906 Belleview Ave SE - Roanoke Requisition Number: R156178 Medical Interpreter (Open) How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare: Provides accurate language interpreting services for patients to ensure effectively communication with health care providers and promote a positive patient care experience. Provides accurate sign language interpreting services to patients with hearing impairments. All interpretations are to be absolutely accurate and complete, without substitutions or omissions Maintains competency in language skills and interpretive proce Maintains strict confidentiality of patient information and does not disclose information outside the treating team. Promotes Carilion Clinics Culture of Excellence and quality service through team work, respectful communication, maintenance of a professional environment, partnership with those we serve in anticipation of patient/customer needs. What We Require: Education: High school diploma required. Experience: Must be proficient in both written and spoken English and must be proficient in sign language with 1 to 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting as anmedical interpreter with proficiency in medical terminology. Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Successful completion/certification as Medical Interpreter (by an agency which is recognized by Carilion) is required or must be obtained prior to hire. 10 Hours of continuing education required annually National Certification preferred but not required. Other Minimum Qualifications: Excellent interpersonal skills: Ability to remain calm when dealing with difficult people and crisis situations. Interprets with highest degree of accuracy and completeness in consecutive, simultaneous and sight translation modes.
