Overview Performs under the supervision of the Patient Relations Director. Provides timely, thorough, and accurate medical and general interpretation between Non-English speaking patients/families and staff or physicians in a wide variety of settings and specialty areas in adherence with the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics adopted by the department. Coordinates translation of written documents - both medical and general - into target language(s). Qualifications Required Education: GED or High School Diploma Preferred Education: Associate's degree in a healthcare field with demonstrated fluency in Foreign Language. Necessary Skills: Must demonstrate fluency both oral and written in English and other Foreign Language (s). Knowledge of medical terminology Sincerely likes to work with people and interested in helping them Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to handle stressful situations in a professional and courteous manner Capable of working with diverse groups of people Required Licensure/Certifications: Completion of the ALTA Medical Language Test at a Fluent Skill Level-10 or higher within 30 days of hire or transfer in the position. Required Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a health care setting with demonstrated fluency in a foreign language -AND - customer service experience Preferred Experience: Two (2) years of customer service experience in a health care related industry.
