Works in various areas of the clinical and anatomic pathology laboratories. Day shift: 8a-4:30 Monday- Friday Duties may include registering patients, ordering tests, collecting samples, and assessing the acceptability of samples for testing. Verifies and monitors all specimens received in laboratory for accurate packaging, labeling, and correct specimen collection requirements and are received appropriately. Maintains accurate and complete documentation on processes/procedures, patient information, and equipment maintenance, ensuring compliance with all accreditation regulations. Observes universal precautions, barrier protection methods and infection control and isolation procedures when working with body fluids and other contagions to ensure a safe work environment. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A high school diploma or equivalent with four years of experience. Degree in Biology, Science or related major may be considered in lieu of experience. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
