Description

Under supervision and direction, performs a variety of laboratory tasks, including but not exclusive to specimen reception, sorting and labeling, data entry, specimen separation and preparation, harvesting, slide-making, nucleic acid extraction, which require learned manual skills rather than a technological training. Assists the Medical Laboratory Technologists in various sections within the Genetics Laboratory Service. 1. MLPAO/CSMLS Certified Medical Laboratory Assistant 2. Knowledge and experience in nucleic acid extraction 3. Knowledge and experience in Genetics harvesting procedures 4. Knowledge and experience in registering and receiving patient samples, specific to Clinical Genetics laboratory services 5. Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment 6. Data entry skills - mandatory

Responsibilities

The Medical Lab Assistant performs various laboratory tasks under supervision, including specimen reception, sorting, labeling, and data entry. They assist Medical Laboratory Technologists in the Genetics Laboratory Service.
