This position exercises independent judgment under general supervision, involving analytical testing of blood and human biological specimens. This role includes pre-and post-analytical work processes, maintenance of accurate laboratory records, adherence to laboratory policies and procedures, and upholding quality control practices. In addition, this position performs clinical testing in various laboratory areas such as Blood Bank, Microbiology, Serology, Chemistry, Hematology, and Urinalysis following standardized procedures. This role requires effective communication, interpersonal skills, critical thinking for ensuring quality of patient test results, and a high level of technical knowledge applicable to department testing and clinical relevance. Responsibilities for this role include organizing work to meet established deadlines and maintaining job competence, consistently functioning in a self-directed manner and exhibiting complex problem-solving skills. May require on-call hours. The value you’ll bring to the team: Conducts all expected tests and analytical procedures efficiently and accurately according to hospital procedures, performance standards, and competency standards. Participates in proficiency testing, adhering to federal and state regulations as well as hospital policies. Performs post-analytical activities including reporting results and providing technical and support information for all age groups. Provides resolution to customer service issues within guidelines and support education for clinical staff as appropriate or requested. Participates in laboratory and hospital performance improvement activities, including evaluating new equipment and procedures. The expertise and experience you’ll need to succeed: Associate in a laboratory science (chemical or biological science) Required OR Medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution Required OR Successful completion of at least a 50-week official US military medical laboratory procedures training course and currently hold or have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Laboratory Technician) Required; or Qualified and served as high complexity testing personnel on or before April 24, 1995 in a CLIA-certified laboratory as of December 28, 2024, and have done so continuously since December 28, 2024.
