Job Description Performs routine clerical tasks related to laboratory. Job Responsibility * * Receives specimens from internal/external suppliers.May retrieve specimens from other hospital departments, as required. * * Accessions patient specimens into laboratory computer system.Enters patient demographics and relevant information into laboratory computer system. * * Enters/scans units of blood and/or blood components into department computer system. * * Triages specimen for handling or release.Centrifuges specimens, as required. * * Processes specimen using designated equipment. * * Performs designated equipment maintenance including cleaning, emptying waste, and replenishing supplies, as required. * * Maintains inventory of reagents and other supplies.Places orders for supplies through department computer system. * * Responds to inquiries regarding specimen handling, test results, patient preparation, problem specimens, etc. * * Operates the pneumatic tube system, as needed. * * Prepares, distributes and files reports, as requested. * Performs related duties, as required. *ADA Essential Functions Job Qualification * High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Coursework in general science/mathematics, required. * Prior laboratory/client service experience, preferred. * Ability to operate office and minor laboratory equipment, required. * Ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions. *Additional Salary Detail The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.When determining a team member's base salary and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity).
