Job Description Performs routine clerical tasks related to laboratory. Job Responsibility   * * Receives specimens from internal/external suppliers.May retrieve specimens from other hospital departments, as required. * * Accessions patient specimens into laboratory computer system.Enters patient demographics and relevant information into laboratory computer system. * * Enters/scans units of blood and/or blood components into department computer system. * * Triages specimen for handling or release.Centrifuges specimens, as required. * * Processes specimen using designated equipment. * * Performs designated equipment maintenance including cleaning, emptying waste, and replenishing supplies, as required. * * Maintains inventory of reagents and other supplies.Places orders for supplies through department computer system. * * Responds to inquiries regarding specimen handling, test results, patient preparation, problem specimens, etc. * * Operates the pneumatic tube system, as needed. * * Prepares, distributes and files reports, as requested. * Performs related duties, as required. *ADA Essential Functions   Job Qualification   * High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Responsibilities
The Medical Laboratory Assistant is responsible for receiving, accessioning, and processing patient specimens using laboratory equipment. They also perform clerical tasks, maintain inventory, and ensure proper documentation within the laboratory computer system.
