Description
Overview CVP is seeking Medical Laboratory Scientists (MLS) to join our team in providing our Nation's Veterans with laboratory services within the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service (PLMS) Department at the Dayton VA Medical Center located at 4100 West Third Street, Dayton, OH 45428. Dayton VAMC is transitioning to a new Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) system, and the Medical Laboratory Scientists will adapt to this new, modernized digital system as it rolls out. Responsibilities Perform high-complex molecular laboratory testing including pathogen agnostic whole genome sequencing for diagnosis of unknown or emerging pathogens Conduct pathogen-specific testing such as antibody/antigen tests, RT-PCR, and Multilocus Sequence Typing (MLST) Execute whole genome sequencing for diagnosis and treatment decision-making Participate in CDC Laboratory Response Network (LRN) activities Assist with VA Public Health preparedness and response requirements Conduct laboratory surveillance, lookback and outbreak investigations Support VA response to high consequence infections such as Ebola, mpox, or H5N1 avian influenza Maintain accurate documentation and records of all testing procedures and results Ensure compliance with all laboratory safety protocols and quality assurance standards Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with evolving technologies and methodologies Qualifications Ability to successfully undergo a Government sponsored background investigation (US Citizenship Required) Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree from a regionally accredited college/university including courses in biological science, chemistry and mathematics Successful completion of a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education Current certification as a Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) from ASCP-BOC, ASCP-BOR, or AMT Minimum of 2 years of experience in molecular diagnostic testing and advanced laboratory techniques Experience with next-generation sequencing technologies, PCR techniques, and bioinformatics tools preferred Experience with high-complexity testing and/or public health laboratory work preferred Location Dayton VA Medical Center, 4100 West Third Street, Dayton, OH 45428 About CVP CVP is an award-winning healthcare and next-gen technology and consulting services firm solving critical problems for healthcare, national security, and public sector clients.
