Responsibilities: Interact courteously and professionally with all laboratory customers; respond to inquiries promptly. Follow established laboratory and hospital policies for procedures, quality control, safety, and compliance. Collect, process, and evaluate specimens accurately, ensuring sample appropriateness and stability. Perform qualitative and quantitative analyses with precision, efficiency, and adherence to protocols. Identify critical or abnormal results, investigate issues, and take corrective action per protocols. Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment; perform quality checks, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs. Monitor reagent and supply usage, maintain appropriate inventory, and use resources cost-effectively. Maintain expertise in laboratory techniques, instruments, and factors affecting test results. Conduct or assist in test development, methodology evaluation, and implementation of new equipment or procedures. Provide training, orientation, and temporary supervision for staff, students, and residents as assigned. Medical Lab Technician: Associate’s degree in a laboratory science with certification (or eligible new graduate) from an accredited MLT program, OR Bachelor of Science in biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science with ≥6 months of clinical laboratory experience, OR Equivalent education and experience as defined by CLIA ’88 for individuals performing high-complexity testing. Minimum 1 year of hospital laboratory experience preferred. Familiarity with medical terminology and laboratory information systems preferred. Medical Lab Scientist: Bachelor of Science from an accredited college/university AND completion of a CAHEA-accredited Medical Technology program, OR Bachelor of Science in biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science AND ASCP categorical certification, OR Bachelor of Science in biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science AND ≥2 years’ experience in a role equivalent to a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) in a clinical lab. Prefer 1 year of hospital laboratory experience. Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory information systems preferred. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) – ASCP certification preferred; Clinical Laboratory Assistant (CLA) certification also accepted.
