Job Description
Medical Laboratory Technician - Andrology
n
This is full-time, ongoing Medical Laboratory Technician role responsible for the receipting, ID Check, data entry and processing of specimens for Andrology Laboratory testing. The Medical Laboratory Technician also performs diagnostic andrology tests, equipment maintenance, data entry and administrative tasks as directed or required by senior staff.

Classification for this position is in accordance with Award 01 - Allied Health.
n
Depending on experience, this will range from BU1 (Grade 1, Year 1) to BU8 (Grade 1, Year 8), $61,****** to $77,****** per annum, plus superannuation.
n
What You'll Achieve:
n
You will be responsible for performing a range of laboratory tasks under the direction and supervision of senior laboratory staff.
n
n
Routine diagnostic and clerical duties, including specimen reception and processing
n
Media preparation, specimen preparation and instrument and quality control testing
n
Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on automated and manual instrumentation and equipment
n
Participate in overall laboratory upkeep and preparation of stock reagents
n
Ensure that the performance of any duties is carried out according to the policies, procedures & technical methods as documented in the Laboratory Services Quality System
n
Ensure all duties are carried out in a team environment with respect for other members of the team
n

To be successful in this role you will have:
n
n
Associate Diploma of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent
n
Previous experience in working in a diagnostic pathology andrology laboratory
n
Knowledge of ISO***** and its application to medical testing
n
n

The Andrology department established in **** sits within the Division of Laboratory Services and provides a comprehensive, high quality diagnostic Andrology and Sperm banking, fertility preservation services to the Royal Children's Hospital, Royal Women's Hospital, Royal Melbourne Hospital, Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre and external clinics and private doctors.
