Overview Conducts a variety of laboratory tests and duties according to established laboratory procedure, and in compliance with Cherokee Nation Policies and Procedures, Rural Health Guidelines and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA '88), and Commission on Office Laboratory Accreditation (COLA) regulations, while working under the supervision of a Laboratory Supervisor and/or Laboratory Director. Qualifications EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and less than one year of specialized training or education related to Medical Laboratory Asstance School or Medical Laboratory CME. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT Three years experience in a related field performing moderate or high complexity testing in a Medical Laboratory. COMPUTER SKILLS An individual should have knowledge of Database software. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must have a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. Must be a Registered Certified Laboratory Assistant, Medical Laboratory Assistant, or Phlebotomist Technician with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or American Medical Technologist or equivalent and maintain throughout employment. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within ninety (90) days of hire and maintained throughout employment. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES None OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Employee must not and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG’s Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA’s List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG’s List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
