Overview Medical Lab Technician UnityPoint - Allen Hospital Full-Time Benefits Eligible: 1.0 FTE; 1230 PM -11 PM, 1100 AM-930 PM; fill in 3rd shift; weekend/holiday rotation Potential Sign On Bonus: $5,000.00 paid over 1 year The Medical Laboratory Technician position is responsible for performing laboratory tests and analyses in the hematology, blood bank, special chemistry, chemistry, and microbiology departments in the laboratory. Associate must present record of certification to the Laboratory Director within 1 year of employment and/or within 90 days of expiration of MLT/CLA certification. The Medical Laboratory Technician performs routine laboratory testing, laboratory specimen collection and is responsible for quality control and regular maintenance of laboratory equipment. Responsibilities Performs routine lab testing in hematology, blood bank, special chemistry, chemistry and microbiology departments following proper laboratory procedure and follow up of critical lab values Performs and verifies quality control and instrument maintenance and troubleshooting Collect, receive and process laboratory samples and sendouts following proper laboratory procedures Perform inventory management and other miscellaneous tasks as needed Qualifications Education: Associate degree in lab science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution or Qualify as Testing Personnel under Federal Register Sec 493.1489 License/Certifications: MLT/CLA-ASCP (non regulatory) - Must present record of certification to the Laboratory Director within 1 year of employment Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. Other: Must be able to read, write and speak English Must possess basic computer skills and knowledge using word processing, spreadsheet, email and web browser
