Description

Peel Medical Centre is looking for a part -time empathetic, efficient, reliable Medical Office Assistant and phlebotomist who has experience working in a busy family practice doctors’ office/ Walk-In Clinic/ Urgent Care Centre .
Hours are 9: 00 to 5:00 Monday to Friday, 10:00 – 6:00 Saturday . The position requires, no evenings no shifts or overtime.
Job Description:
The office assistant and phlebotomist in our practice is responsible for preparing patients for their visits. This includes:
· Receptionist’s services including but not limited to answer the phone calls , booking patients for medical appointment , carry out tasks from physician for calling patients back for appointment
· Examination room preparation
· Weighing children and adults
· Injections/immunizations and phlebotomy services
· Ear syringing
· Preparation of trays as needed for procedures
· Triaging patient telephone calls and/or emails
· Oversight and administration of vaccines and medical supplies
· Updating of patient medical records as required
· Brief cleaning services at the end of the day
Qualifications:
· Phlebotomy certificate
· At least 2-3 years experience working in a primary care/clinic setting
· Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and customer service
· Ability to work well in a team environment with both medical and non-medical personnel
· Able to foster good public relations and effective working relationships in a family centered care environment
· Works in collaboration with the practice doctors
· Excellent at multi-tasking
· Exercise initiative and good judgment
· Strong organizational and issue-management skills: time management; decision-making; problem-solving
· Experience working on computers in a Windows environment
· Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) – preferably Accuro EMR
· Knowledge of and commitment to community-based health care and social services
· Excellent English/ Panjabi language skills both verbal and written
Expected wages : $ 18-19 / hour
