MEDICAL OFFICE ASSISTANT

Camrose Medical Clinic
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Medical Office Assistant to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be able to work both independently and collaboratively, possess excellent organizational skills, and demonstrate outstanding communication abilities. Prior experience in a medical or dental office is preferred. We use Med Access EMR.

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in medical office administration is an asset.
  • Proficiency in using EMR systems (Med Access experience preferred).
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and clinic procedures.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a professional and empathetic approach to patient care.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities
  • Provide professional front desk service, including greeting patients, managing multi-line phone calls, responding to emails, and addressing patient queries and concerns.
  • Schedule, confirm, and coordinate patient appointments to ensure efficient clinic flow.
  • Prepare patients for visits, including taking measurements, performing eye exams, blood pressure checks, and recording results in Med Access EMR.
  • Access, review, and process patient reports, results, incoming faxes, referrals, recalls, and consultations.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, charts, and filing systems while ensuring confidentiality.
  • Assist with insurance verification, billing, and coordination of payments for uninsured services.
  • Prepare and complete documentation for specimens, tests, and related procedures.
  • Manage patient flow, monitor exam room occupancy, and coordinate with clinical staff.
  • Support healthcare providers with effective communication and administrative assistance.
  • Maintain inventory and perform cleaning duties as required.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned to support clinic operations.
