As an MOA for Dr. Fernandes, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of our patients and contribute to the provision of excellent surgical and endoscopic care to our neighbours in Orillia and surrounding area.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • MOA certification achieved, experience an asset

  • EMR experience

  • Novari and Cerner experience

  • Accuro EMR experience favoured, training can be provided

  • OHIP billing training and/or experience and accurate data entry

  • Microsoft Office Suite

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Valued traits: detail-oriented, organized, efficient, responsible, hard-working, professional, independent
  • Understanding of, and adherence to, PHIPA and privacy legislation
  • Proficient in trouble-shooting basic office equipment (fax, printer, computer, EMR)
  • Economically manage inventory of office and medical supplies as-needed
  • Interact collegially with other MOAs and healthcare providers in the clinic space

  • Maintain smooth and efficient office operation with direction provided by Dr. Fernandes

  • Answer phone calls, respond to messages and faxes appropriately and in a timely manner

  • Coordinate referrals to specialists and follow-up on outcomes
  • During clinic days, welcome and check-in patients
  • Insurance verification, patient record-keeping, registration
  • Assist in the preparation, change-over and organization of clinic examination spaces as required; occasionally assist Dr. Fernandes during direct patient interactions in clinic
  • Schedule clinic appointments, book and coordinate hospital procedures (endoscopy, surgery, minor procedures) and interface with OSMH hospital software/protocols as required
  • Handle administrative tasks: maintenance of the clinical calendar, filing, and billing support
  • Learn to direct patient queries appropriately and communicate efficiently with Dr. Fernandes
