How you’ll contribute A Medical Office Assistant who excels in this role: · Greets patients, families, and patrons as they arrive to the clinic. · Obtain, verifies, and updates demographic/insurance information at each visit. · Work scheduled Order/ front desk work queues: send and respond to provider/nurse tasks as needed. · Performs patient check in/check out process. · Make follow-up appointments. · Collect co-payments at time of service and accurately post payments to patient account. · End of day process per DLP Conemaugh Physician Practices Revenue Cycle Guidelines following DLP Conemaugh Physician Practices Segregation of Duties policy. · Scan documents to the patients chart. · Complete patient forms, obtain provider signatures. · Control Drug Representative Traffic flow. · Fax paperwork for Physicians as needed. · Assist medical staff in patient care, including rooming patients, vitals, and examinations. · Assists with minor procedures and other clinical procedures within the scope of practice. · Gives IMs, sub q, and oral medications as ordered. · Handles patient telephone inquiries, regarding scheduling, prescriptions, and clinical questions. · Receive and process messages from providers/clinical staff/patients through EPIC system. · Receive and process prescription requests through EPIC system and obtain authorizations. · Coordinates patient care activities with the hospital. · Coordinates and orients new personnel in regards to office set-up, requirements, associated activities and procedures. · Transcribes lab and other medical data to charts. · Competently documents visits and notes in EPIC. · Attends assigned and/or scheduled in-service education meetings and staff meetings. · Promotes an environment that is conducive to employee and patient safety. · Must be flexible with workload, schedule and location to meet department volume demands. · Maintains confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. · Maintenance of office equipment in good operational order. · Performs on-site laboratory tests and controls.
