Job description

The Medical Office Assistant (MOA) will provide comprehensive support services and care to patients within the medical clinic. She will be an integral member of the team and be responsible to support the functional operation of the clinic and perform relevant roles with proactive care assisting patients/clients with compassion and true service to the practice population.

The Medical Office Assistant will work with family physicians, nurses, and other health professionals in a multidisciplinary team to ensure quality care and management of patients.

The Medical Office Assistant will report to the Clinic Manager.

Key Responsibilities

· Medical office assistant duties including, but not limited to the following:

o Ensures patient care and safety are top priority

o Deals with patient inquiries or escalation of inquiries.

o Checks, re-orders, and stocks medical supplies in a timely manner

o Assists with physician referrals

o Asks patients questions in order to complete intake forms or other documents.

o Helps patients complete medical history forms

o Facilitates patient recruitment & retention to meet the needs of community members without Family Physicians

o Able to cover role of colleague(s) at short notice

o Follows workflow policies and implementation

o Follows Privacy and confidentiality policies - Ensures patients’ privacy is protected in the EMR and documents in hard copy.

Qualifications

· Knowledge & experience using Healthquest (EMR)

· Minimum 1-2 years healthcare MOA or related experience

· Experience working at healthcare facility or Medical Clinic

. Genuine desire to help patients and help advance their health

· Ability to work with other team members

· Exceptional organizational skills

· Proficiency in medical documentation

· Referral management

· Exceptional interpersonal skills for liaising with patients, healthcare providers, specialists, and the public

· Thorough understanding of the privacy, security and HIA regulations

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Compensation

A competitive compensation package commensurate with skills and experience. Further details will be discussed if you are invited to an interview.

  • Monday to Friday with some evening as required
