BREATHE Midwives is a Registered Charity focused on changing the face of Black Sexual, Reproductive, Birthing & Infant Health. Through our BREATH Initiative we have various programs and services to help support the African, Black, and Caribbean, and racialized community. JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking 1 to 2 Part-time Individuals dedicated and organized Medical Office Assistant to join our Register Charity to be part of our team. The ideal candidate(s) will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our organization, providing exceptional support to the individuals and families who see our services; as well as support the healthcare professionals at our office. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, excellent administrative skills, proficiency in electronic medical records systems, and a desire to be part of a system of change.

ATTRIBUTES AND SKILLS

  • Proficiency in using electronic medical records systems (Accuro).
  • Proficiency in using software such as Microsoft 365 (word, excel, teams) and Adobe
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology and administrative procedures within a midwifery medical setting.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with individuals, volunteer, staff and contractors.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in patient records and documentation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated and independent.
  • Highly motivated to learn and problem solve
  • Integrity and focus on patient safety
  • High degree of composure and exhibits a strong work ethic

BACKGROUND EXPERIENCE

  • Understanding working with uninsured clients and uninsured funding
  • Some experience working in a medical or clinical setting an asset
  • Anti-racism, anti-discrimination, training or certification an asset
  • Emergency or Standard First Aid and CPR training
Responsibilities
  • Greet and assist individuals as they arrive at the office, ensuring a welcoming environment.
  • Manage front desk operations, including answering phones, scheduling appointments, faxing document, emailing, and handling inquiries.
  • Maintain accurate patient records using electronic medical records systems Accuro.
  • Process patient information and documentation efficiently while adhering to privacy regulations.
  • Assist with handling of courier and laboratory request (incoming and outgoing)
  • Assist working with uninsured funding.
  • Collaborate with other administrative staff to streamline office operations.
  • Ensure that the office is well-organized and that all supplies are stocked.
  • Maintain cleanliness of reception area and clinic rooms
  • Responsible for cleaning and sterilizing medical equipment including operation of autoclave
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare providers regarding client needs and appointments.
  • Provided supervision and support of volunteers in the clinic
