Job Summary The Medical Ophthalmologist is responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing a wide range of non-surgical eye conditions. This role focuses on medical eye care, including retinal diseases, inflammatory eye disorders, diabetic eye disease, glaucoma management, and ocular complications of systemic illness. The specialist works closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive patient-centered care. ---------------------------------------- KEY RESPONSIBILITIES CLINICAL DUTIES * Evaluate patients with acute and chronic ophthalmic conditions through detailed history and examination. * Diagnose and manage medical eye diseases such as: * Diabetic retinopathy * Macular degeneration * Uveitis and ocular inflammation * Glaucoma (medical management) * Ocular infections * Neuro-ophthalmic disorders * Interpret ophthalmic diagnostic tests including: * Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) * Fundus Fluorescein Angiography (FFA) * Visual field testing * Ultrasound imaging * Provide intravitreal injections and laser treatments where appropriate. * Monitor disease progression and adjust treatment plans accordingly. Required Qualifications * Medical degree (MBBS/MD or equivalent) * Specialist training in Ophthalmology * Board certification or equivalent licensure in Ophthalmology * Fellowship or additional training in Medical Retina/Uveitis/Neuro-ophthalmology (preferred)
