Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or higher degree from an accredited college or university, required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (e.g., Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Medical Physics) or Radiation Therapy; required.
  • Experience:
  • Entry-level to intermediate.
  • Experience in radiation oncology or medical physics is preferred but not required.
  • Interest or exposure to QA, radiation safety, or related technical areas.
  • Willingness and aptitude to learn clinical tools and workflows on the job is essential.
  • Additional Skills Required:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage documentation accurately and consistently.
  • Ability to periodically work evenings after patient treatments have completed, and occasionally on weekends.

Responsibilities

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE ROLE:

  • Perform QA on linear accelerators, imaging systems, and software systems across our radiation oncology departments in Charlotte and Huntersville.
  • Support HDR procedures including source calibration, planning, and documentation.
  • Assist with simulation and treatment planning processes.
  • Manage DICOM data transfers to outside institutions and clinical trial repositories.
  • Participate in new technology validation and QA documentation.
  • Collaborate with physicists, therapists, and dosimetrists in a multidisciplinary team.

The Weisiger Cancer Institute at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center and Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center is hiring a Medical Physics Assistant to support clinical medical physics operations in our radiation oncology departments. This position includes responsibilities such as:
