Department Overview The Medical Physicist Assistant (MPA) performs tasks in support of the Medical Physicists in the Division of Radiation Physics within the Department of Radiation Medicine. The general responsibility of the MPA includes performing patient specific quality assurance (QA) measurements. Additionally, the assistants will need to transfer data and run standard machine performance plans. Function/Duties of Position Performs patient specific QA measurements following established procedures (to include operation of the treatment planning system and linear accelerator) Performs readout of in-vivo dosimetry measurements using OSLD Performs machine verification checks and data transfer. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in relevant field Minimum 1 year of education in medical physics program Skill in collecting, organizing and analyzing data. Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems. Possess an understanding of clinical radiation therapy, clinical physics and/or dosimetry Ability to work flexible hours as needed, especially late night shifts to conduct patient specific quality assurance. Ability to manage time and prioritize work flow. Technical problem solving.
