JOB SUMMARY

The Medical Physics Specialist 1 helps maintain compliance with regulations for imaging equipment and processes. Functions as the liaison and first line of communication between radiation safety staff and physicians, staff, and patients.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • EDUCATION - Grad of an Accredited Program
  • EXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience
Responsibilities
  • Works with the Radiation Safety Physics Staff to ensure that radiation safety and image quality standards are maintained.
  • Arranges for calibration of radiation monitoring instruments. Records calibrations and dates in computer and maintains calibrations certificates.
  • Able to conduct performance evaluations of patient imaging equipment.
  • Maintains appropriate, accurate, and complete documentation to ensure regulatory compliance in an organized and timely manner.
  • Communicates as needed and in a timely manner with the personnel monitoring vendor to handle routine issues.
  • Notifies the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) immediately of any unusual exposure events.
  • Performs measurements of patient and public exposure levels. Ensures regulatory standards are met and doses minimized under a licensed medical physicist’s direction.
