Description

The Medical Receptionist position is responsible for providing a high level of autonomous administration support for the Facility Medical Officer, Practice Manager, Nursing and Support staff in order to facilitate the coordination, planning and provision of a high standard of patient.
The position will provide full-time clinic support (8-hour day), 5 days per week. After hours work is not required.

STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIREMENTS

All personnel assigned to work shall be:

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Able to fluently read, write and speak English
Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • As the initial point of contact, the Medical Receptionist is responsible for triaging patient phone calls and walk-ins, scheduling and delegating appropriately timed appointments for intervention.
  • Maintain professionalism and ensure confidentiality of patient’s private medical information complying with strict ethical and legal obligations of Australian health care settings.
  • Administrative tasks as required, including but not limited to: managing work schedules/calendar on the Electronic Medical Record system, preparation of physical packages, receiving and responding to email requests, distribution of information packs, items and paperwork. Updating and maintaining patient electronic records to be compliant with RACGP Accreditation guidelines.
  • Independently coordinate site Contractor Human Resource departments to ensure accurate and timely information is available for dissemination. Including the collation of metrics, management of databases and providing the most up-to-date medical information to be distributed. Provide accurate information for Pre-PCS/Company Change and 5-yearly Physical applicants to the relevant Human Resource department.
  • Maintain manuals and support new and contracted staff on how to use the Electronic Medical Record system. Work with IT staff to obtain information and resolve EMR issues.
  • Communicate with medical and non-medical stakeholders, allied health groups, specialists and external health departments via phone, fax and email
  • Obtain and maintain Site medical specific Policies and Procedures for accreditation as per the RACGP guidelines and site Facility Regulations.
  • Initiate and undertake quality improvement projects in order to meet the standards of RACGP accreditation based on experience and knowledge
  • Ensure compliance with all site environmental health and safety requirement, including clinic specific personal protective equipment as per NT Health guidelines to ensure the safety and welfare of all clinic staff.
  • Any other reasonable duties as requested.
