Description

Medical Receptionist is responsible for managing all aspects of surgery scheduling, patient inquiries, and pre-operative preparations. This includes booking surgeries, coordinating with surgeons, managing the operating room schedule, and providing patients with pricing and surgery-related information. also handles patient inquiries, provides guidance on available services, and may assist in driving sales of surgical services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required. A degree or certification in healthcare administration, nursing, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience:
  • 2-3 years of experience in a hospital, clinic, or healthcare setting, ideally in surgery coordination or patient care.
  • Experience in customer service and sales is a plus.
  • Skills:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, insurance processes, and healthcare systems.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and medical software (e.g., electronic health records, scheduling software).
Responsibilities
  • Surgery Scheduling and Coordination:
  • Schedule surgeries by coordinating available dates with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the operating room team.
  • Ensure proper documentation and pre-surgery approvals are in place, including insurance verification and patient consent forms.
  • Communicate and confirm surgery details with patients, including the time, location, and necessary pre-operative instructions.
  • Manage the surgical calendar and coordinate with all relevant departments (e.g., anesthesia, nursing, and OR staff) to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Patient Communication and Inquiries:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for patients inquiring about surgeries.
  • Provide clear and detailed information to patients regarding the surgical process, including pre-operative and post-operative care.
  • Answer patient questions regarding surgery pricing, payment plans, and insurance coverage.
  • Sales and Promotion:
  • Assist in promoting the clinic’s or hospital’s surgical services by providing patients with accurate and persuasive information about the benefits of specific procedures.
  • Actively engage with patients to ensure they understand the full range of available services and facilitate the booking of additional services if appropriate.
  • Achieve sales targets by offering surgical packages or bundled services.
  • Administrative Duties:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the hospital’s electronic health system, ensuring all patient information is correctly recorded.
  • Track surgical schedules and provide reminders to patients regarding upcoming procedures.
  • Prepare and distribute surgical reports and documentation to relevant departments and stakeholders.
  • Financial and Pricing Coordination:
  • Provide patients with surgery cost estimates, including detailed breakdowns of procedure costs, potential additional fees, and payment options.
  • Coordinate with the finance and billing departments to ensure smooth and timely payment processing.
  • Pre- and Post-Surgical Support:
  • Assist patients in preparing for surgery by providing necessary instructions regarding diet, medication, and pre-operative tests.
  • Offer guidance and support to patients post-operatively, ensuring they understand follow-up care, medication schedules, and any potential complications.
